Mardi Gras Celebrated Madpea Style

As you know the day before Lent is a celebration in many cultures. Some eat pancakes as a way of getting rid of all the fat in the home before Lent starts. Traditionally you couldn't eat any eggs, flour, milk or fat during Lent. Did we starve? well that tradition is not the same any more but the practice of eating pancakes and other things with egg and sugar and milk and butter has never really ended. In England we eat pancakes, the Welsh enjoy welsh cakes which are similar in mixture to pancakes but thicker and probably just as delicious. In Scotland they cook scottish pancakes, these are the ones Americans eat with eggs for breakfast dripping with maple syrup.

In some cultures Shrove Tuesday as this day is called, is often referred to as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, in some places its a place for great fun and frivolity and so the festival of Mardi Gras goes back as far as the Romans, but it has really come into its own as a festival during the late 18th Century.

There is a King called Rex and he drives the carnival float at the beginning of the float procession. He and his companions throw necklaces and doubloons and other regalia to the crowd. There is a frenzy to catch these items, many other floats travel by also throwing trinkets, doubloons, necklaces, cups, yes cups [plastic] are thrown out to the crowd and balls too.

So we decided to celebrate Mardi Gras at Madpea Games and tune into the New Orleans Radio stream for live music at the live event as Mardi Gras was celebrated in New Orleans so the Madpea Members celebrated in the Madpea Game Arena.

It was an impromptu event hosted by Rowanessque and Quan a surprise event for all the Madpea Members. The Madpea team donated some lindens and a competition for the craziest costume commenced.

The Winner

It was great fun, the Madpea Members had a great time, its such a shame if you couldn't be there because we had lots of fun and danced merrily to New Orleans Radio stream for over two hours straight.

The competition results where announced and the dancing continued until most of us Europeans went to bed and hoped that the fun would continue in our absence.

Sanity Falls Decorator Yelena

Before meeting Yelena Istmal we just had to go and see her shops. We arrived at one location we were thrilled to find, grungy, old, gothicesque furniture and artefacts of the Victorian Era.

To us it was like walking into a Second Life Victorian Doll House, everything set was usable. There were stuffed birds, ticking clocks, writing desks, books to read. No wonder Madpea Games wanted Yelly to work for them on Sanity Falls Decor and furnishings.

We spent well over an hour just looking around and spending Lindens on Yelena's creations, time and lack of lindens brought the spree to an end but we went "home" with enough of her beautiful creations to furnish our homes. Its great to find something so beautiful, reasonably priced, carefully decorated...

Testing the Bed Fell into Deep Sleep

We spoke to Yelena briefly, as you know Madpea Games is very international and Yelena lives "down under" whilst we live "up norf" as Yelena said. We liked her immediately, but with talent and beautiful creativity we had a feeling she would be a likeable and extremely interesting person to meet. So because of the time difference we didn't really get time to chat about what she was doing in Sanity Falls. We did discover that we have a lot in common. We both love Bram Stokers, Dracula, the adaptation with Gary Oldman is one of our favourites. We both want to immerse ourselves in the Balkans one day and visit Transylvannia. We know what your going to say there are sims that are Transylvannian in second life. Really we must look them up.

Getting Ready for the Ball should employ more servants! look at those cobwebs.

The very next day, we caught a glimpse of her work in progress on Sanity Falls. It is gorgeous and she has worked extremely hard to make sure that the scene she is setting fits in perfectly. Down to a pair of ring rimmed spectacles for the cleric.

We found Yelly at one of her projects, its super and we have to go back there and take a look, when we have more Lindens. We love her buildsm we sat down on a bench and were joined by a frog from her neighbours parcel, for an sl frog he was adorable. The bench we sat on was very much in vogue with the New Orleans setting. Yelena is lovely she was wearing a vintage outfit in black which would look almost as good in real life as it does in second life, save for the unclement and changeable weather we are enjoying in England. Mild and pensive springs to mind.

We were chatting about Mardi Gras and sadly we had missed a Mardi Gras procession of floats at New Toulouse by a day, Yelly went there and enjoyed it. Mardi Gras is not common in Australia, its not common in England either. Until we had read Terry Prachet's Disk World we never even knew what Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras was, but the internet is great place to learn about different cultures.

We talked about our love of New Orleans and Bayou and all the cultures that lived and melded together there, of course we discussed Voodoo which seems synonymous to New Orleans, yet there is a lot more to the culture of the Deep South than Voodoo, its a place Yelly and I would love to visit some day. How uncanny that we share so many common interests and have russian blood in our real life veins.

We wanted to talk about her work, and have put some pictures here for you to see if for yourself, but do go to Yelena fantastic shops because if you love anything steampunkish, gothic, victorian, vintage, or just beautifully textured furniture Yelly has it all. You could probably furnish your second life home from top to bottom for under 2000 lindens. We did!

So how did Madpea productions approach Yelena, well first off they sent her and email and then an video of Madpea and yelly was hooked. We remarked that her work looks as if it had always been in Madpea and yet she was a recent discovery.

We talked about Peatonville Asylum which is/was a much beloved work of all the Madpeas, its a shame it "blew up". Yelena asked if it was an accident, but we think the ghosts came back to claim it, you know like in the Poltergiest movie directed by Stephen Spielberg. Despite the loss of our beloved Asylum it is probably for the best, because its kind of crazy to love spending time in an asylum is it not.

So we will console ourselves with Sanity Falls and all that entails and mourn our beloved Peatonville by getting the heck out of Sanity Falls as fast as possible to win the game perhaps.

Yelly admitted that when she saw the video she "loved the tone, the asthetics and the quality of it," we asked if she was aware of the subliminal cuts in the video that tell the viewer to "join madpeas". Then we apologised for our "wicked" humour but Yelena didn't mind and we are honestly joking about the use of subliminal cuts*.

The schedule is a tight turn around but Yelena is as enthusiastic as the rest of the building and decoration team to get it done and get it right. She admitted that even though her work is fantastic she is still learning, its hard to believe when you see her work its fantastic but she is right in saying we never finish learning.

In real life Yelena is a graphic designer, we mentioned the artist of The Order of Perception Harter Fall and suggested she should visit his exhibit some day. We need to go back there too. Its fantastic that second life brings such a wonderful selection of skilled people through its doors. People seem to think its just a game that "kids" play when we bet a high population of the second life "players" are well grounded adults who just enjoy the freedom to explore, build, create and make life long friends in world. Second Life really can open real life doors and avenues to even the most shy or introverted adult in real life. Not to mention that it can help people who are limited through either an illness or physical disability to live their dreams on the screen.

Some great books, voodoo, spiritual and other.

We talked about her building, textures she used and her furniture, like me she uses sculpt maps and ready made textures from a very good friend of ours. Twisted Thorn Textures the quality of these textures is second to none, from building the perfect bed, prim or sculpt her textures fit like a dream and she has some great fellow vendors in her store. We also have a fondness for Anthony Republic a brilliant sculptor along with Katelyn. It was strange that both looked at one of his fantastic products and are eager to buy but don't actually know what build we would put the item in. But the product we where discussing is a Weather Vane, its expensive, its gorgeous they provide all the textures all the fittings and its well worth the money but do you do with something you want but have no purpose for, its one of those items you keep on your "must buy" or "keep in mind" lists that we are sure builders and creators across second life have but wish they had a reason to buy the product.

We love sculpting but we are more into clothes creation and then when we make the clothes we go out and wear someone elses. A lot like making food in real life and someone else enjoying it. Yelly wants to make a victorian dress and when she does we have no doubt people will be knocking down the shop door to buy it. We talked about our preferences, again we have so much in common except I live "up norf" and Yelena is "down under"

Yelly also gave us some tips on mesh, just can't get the textures to fit on it so she told us that we are better downloading the texture and modifying it. She said mesh provides a lot more detail and as you know folks we are still very much undecided about mesh although we did go out and buy some mesh clothes to make so we are venturing nearing the dark black hole of mesh with intrepidation.

After having a great evening yesterday with live music, DJ and contest board the next highlight is on the way!

‘Show andTell’ last week had again a classy range of contestants. All of them pleased theaudience with interesting works. Last Sunday’s happy winner of the contest wasCherry Hotaling with a scripted Doll Key that pleased the audience very much.

Today there will be again L$ prizes split among all presenters, the pot will begin at L$1,000, but audience members are encouraged to toss more into the pot.
'Showand Tell’ became a real highlight of the week. Due to the success the MadPeateam decided to run ‘Show and Tell' weekly. So be prepared for more fun today. Wonderful host Lorin Tone awaits you.

Calling all Vendors for Sanity Fall Hunt.

Do you own a shop, have you been in a madpea productions Hunt before? we found some great stores that have previously applied and participated in a madpea hunt. We went back to some of them, there are 50 stores per hunt so as much as we have loved to visit all our previous vendors we physically can't do that.

Why are we telling you all this, because now its your turn to be one of those shops. Yes YOU could be a vendor for our very latest and very mysterious Hunt which is out on the 1st April, thats right it all starts on April Fools Day, its going to be one of the best, and its success is down to the team behind it and the great vendors and you could be one of those vendors if you apply now, inworld.

Application Forms are available just im one of the following, if we had the pea power would be dropping them off to all those fantastic shops in secondlife but its down to YOU to get noticed and be in the hunt of Sanity Falls. So get those applications, get applying and get lucky, we would like to take every shop that applies but we have to narrow it down to 50 and we want YOU to be one of those that tried, even if you have done it before, even if you think your not good enough, even if you don't own a stall but have a great sim/parcel that we deem suitable. Let our team decide if YOU are suitable but you have to be "in it to win it" and there are no exceptions to the rules. So if you fit the criteria, your not a mall, reseller or adult sim, who knows that HUD could landing on your land soon.

Best of all you get a percentage of the revenue for every HUD sold, at 100 lindens a hud, if you got 30 or 40% thats 40 lindens per hud, wow. If you only sold ten in your store thats 400 lindens and thats just to play the game, then those hungry weary hunters will be back to seek out your hunt prize and you don't even have to write the clue, the team take care of that for you.

MadPea High Mystery Crystal

High School was so quiet and I couldn't think why until I saw her standing there covered in Crystal Glass.

So I went upstairs to the Principles Office and there they where all the teachers where Crystalised.

They where calling Help Me, Help Me! But as I got near to them.

I realised they where Modifiable and Copiable and so I changed the colours to green and pink and blue just for fun.

Just then I moved a little closer and it drew me right into it, it was all consuming, I could have clicked WEAR or just been sucked right in by it. It was only a crystal, it couldn't hurt me could it. Who were the people inside though.

So I took one home just for fun, and scared everyone with my Crystal Prison. Available now at Madpeas Shops for only 175 linden, copy/mod. Scare your friends, multiply them tell your current boyfriend or girlfriend, thats what happens to cheaters. Wrapped in a crystal prison for ever. Just who are the avatars trapped in these Crystal Prisons, who knows. People who eat peas for breakfast, dinner and tea I suspect.

Have you ever wondered how to catch a ghost, a soul perhaps you need the all new Madpea exclusive Soul Catcher.

When you catch a soul your necklace glows, be careful not to release it less the spirits inside escape.

A book on spirit release suggests releasing the spirits back into the water, where they came from. You know that some of these spirits where captured in the sand of the river bed, that makes mirror glass. When you break that glass they say you release the spirit, who knows where these spirits come from. In second life releasing them into the water seems to work well.

JaynineScarborough aka Juliane Gabriel lives in Berlin, Germany and performsin SL since june 2006. Suitable for Valentine's Day MadPea started today the XoXo hunt. And you will see, the madness went romantic. By clicking on the sign you get a heart shaped HUD and this poem appears in the chat.

I am on my way now, and find some red boxes. Quite high. The builder of the hunt, Fuzz Difference, gave me a hint: “Do you ever played Super Mario?”

The Living Storybook

Aschild, did you also love it so much when someone was reading out for you? Grown up, we unfortunatelyrarely get it. That's why I was so happy when I found the Storybook. It is a large open book. You get a HUD by click on the sign in front. Onceworn to you can choose between twostories. I choose first for “KALEVALA - THE WORLD'S CREATION ANDTHE BIRTH OF WAINAMOINEN, click onstart and ...

Oooooh ... howenchanting. A scene is built up in 3dabove the page of the book. I see a house in the snow and a man, clothed thick and warm, approaching it. And nowstarts a sympathetic voice to tell the firstchapter.

Listen closely; thenarrator is the boss of MadPea, the FinnishKiana Writer. Veryfitting to thebeautiful Finnish legend which tellshow the world was created. Kalevala has 7 chapters. Madcow Cosmosconstructed scenes that arise as soon as youopen a new chapter. I felt in love with the nice sceneries.

The second story, "URASHIMA TARO" is a alsomyth which takes us to Japan.Narrator this time is Cliquot Oh. The9 chapters are beautifullydesigned. They tell of a good person who wins bysaving a turtle but loses everything and in the end. Pretty and sad!

If you preferto read rather than listen, you also get the chapterwritten in the HUD. But I personally use the cam not to miss any single detail while listening the narrator. Storybook is a fun for asingle listener or together withfriends!

Just Another Great Evening at Madpea

Yesterday weenjoyed another exciting evening at MadPea. Show and Tell had a classy range ofentries from fashion to exterior design.

Not easy to decide for the audience. But at the end we had a happy winner: Xon Halostar with his cute scriptedteddybear band:

The secondHighlight of the evening was the show of Tyrehl Byk and Ultraviolet Alter. This time the eventwas not seated and without camera controls, but also totally improvised byTyrehl. Both artists could even more together get into a flow of sounds andoptical effects.

The beautiful scenery built by Ultraviolet was the perfectframe for the show. The grateful audience enjoyed every minute and gave longapplauds.

Meeting Smiley Behind the Scenes of Sanity Falls

We caught up with Smiley in his sky pad, perhaps this is the site of operations for supervising the progress of hunts and players. For those wondering, Smiley clarified that he is more cat than fox, we have made that mistake before but now we ask to be certain we identify the right species. In second life its very important to each avatar to be identified correctly and respectfully. All avatars are equal, afterall. For the purposes of this blog we will be using artistic licence and imagination to show you the inner workings of Smileys contributions to hunting. Statistical analysis can be dry, and we want to take you beyond this.

Smiley has been working with the peas since the inception of Madpea Game production, which is about four years old, he arrived with the rest of the team bringing his interests about games like Madpea Game hunts into second life. How have things changed for him in four years? Well apart from the advancement in media features and the introduction of mesh, nothing much has changed. Same old, Same old Lag will Lag every get the message its an unwelcome guest, or will Second Lifers learn "less is more" on sims filled with lots of avatars. We can only hope.

Smiley pointed out something that we thought gamers should be made aware of. Its a consequence of Firestorm creators protecting the viewers privacy. Smiley gave us an example of how it can affect the outcome of the gamers experience.Smiley said "at the end of the Kaaos Effect, there was a bonus video that would activate if you'd found all the clocks in the game... but that function is disabled in Firestorm as "allow resident scripts to control media"...they see it as a 'possible' way for someone's IP address to be collected, so have it disabled by default and not even a popup to let the user know something wants to play a video.Gamers take note on firestorm.

Madpea Games/Hunts rely heavily on the formulation and use of a HUD which the player wears during the game and we are curious to know who creates these. We asked Smiley if he was the creator of them, he told us he doesn't build them but he does collate the data they produce on the website. This is probably one of Smileys most important jobs, collecting and collating information about the game, the player and the process of the game its self. This is all the statistical data that has students running for the hills in terror. With the correct program its not so bad honest.Is it collected by hand we wondered, Smiley laughed "not by hand, thankfully... but yeah, I try to manage the databases that track the hunts,"

Thank goodness for databases. Imagine collating all the data by hand. We remember doing statistics by hand in exams and it wasn't just basic averages it was mind boggling. At the moment there are different systems for different hunts but Smiley is trying to consolidate all the the data and programming into one system so they don't have to customize each program for each hunt. It can just be adapted from the main program to fit each hunt. Which seems like a good plan the to keep things organised in the "office".

Does all this involve spreadsheet data programs, Smiley agreed that sometimes he will export things from thewebsite's database and use spread sheet programs for some analysis, but typically he will just allow the server to store the data and ask it for specific information that he needs for example "number of hunters in XXX hunt")Do the huds have to be monitored on line, when the hunt goes lives we asked, imagine having to sit there 24/7 to monitor huds. Smiley assured us that "typically the scripts are self-maintaining, but there are times where I'll have to tap into the website and adjust things manually... thankfully most of the scripts have been made with at least a basic failsafe of "please try again later" for any non-critical issues."


First Days of the Hunt

Given server issues and problems we wanted to know if its "ever crashed" Smiley admitted that due to coding there have been times when the web site went off line for a few minutes, other times "pure in-world traffic was enough to cause delays and mis-communications.

We guessed that glitches, and errors in the program and influx of traffic was more likely to hit in the first few days of the hunt. Smiley explained that some of the older HUDs have been "overly chatty... in testing, it didn't get noticed, but once you have 100+ people wearing a device that tries calling our website every 10 seconds, yeah... we've had a fun launch day or two.

So is the website constantly monitored in the first few days. Smiley was happy to explain how things work."not usually... for the first day or two we'll typically check it every so often just out of curiosity to see how the first batch of players are progressing, but normally we're more worried about the in-world aspects of zero-day fixes (broken vendors, misplaced items, etc). We were relieved to hear some poor Pea does not have to sit there 24/7 and monitor "screens" as is indicated in our picture.

It must be a worry when people don't finish a hunt we asked. Again Smiley answered "not 'worry', per say, but yeah... looking at the stats after a hunt ends, it is pretty sad that we consider a 50% completion rate to be a good thing.. but it's an unfortunate reality of SL... a lot of people don't have the patience to play through the whole thing, they just join the hunts for a few places in particular, or give up if there's an area or two that are too challenging.

Pea Frustration

We wanted to know if someone surveyed why people don't finish, so far its only the beta testers that are surveyed, to find difficulties before the game is launches, people will comment or ask for help in chat or facebook, we have done this ourselves in Peatonville looking for keys that didn't exist! Well when a room is locked you assume you need keys, never assume anything in Madpea Games. Smiley doesn't usually hear from players unless its script-related.We are the type of people who mean to come back and finish we are not ones for rushing through to finish first, we like to enjoy and savour the atmosphere. It would be interesting to see how many people play for fun and who play to win and or get the prizes from the shops that are involved in the vendoring process.

Being amateur programmers ourselves, we were curious to know what code is used. We discovered that the code that connects the website/database to the HUDs and hunt items is based on PHP, although like most of us Smiley writes it all down on notepad first, highlighting keywords/functions in the code. For the website itself they are looking at a few options for content management. Not much XML at the moment but if things change in the future of how the games availability in and out of second life that could very well change. This is exciting for second lifers and none second lifers, would it mean the game will be available to download, could we one day play our beloved Dead Man's Hunt and Peatonville Asylum on our own computers, rather than through second life. Who knows, only time will tell.

Back to Sanity Falls, what sort of effects can the player expect. We have seen the builds, we have spoken to the artists, we have talked to scriptors and we were excited to hear that Smiley had met Madpea Games very own Wizard, Zachh and mechanic, Fuzz so what are they up to. Smiley wasn't giving much away about what the guys were up to, Fuzz is behind the mechanics of the games, and Zachh is a master of interaction and special effects. He mentioned the Wishmaster system, and some of the magic-related ideas he's brought up with the creators of Sanity Falls.

We were curious to discover more about Wishfire having promised ourselves a copy of Zachh's interactive book based on the Charmed series which we were and still are crazy about such great series, the book is a Book of Shadows and we are more than ever eager give it a whirl now that we know its based on Zachh's wizardry the Wishmaster system. We mentioned about the creators requiring a victim/volunteer to try out these effects, Smiley laughed and warned us not to volunteer as we might just be chosen, but we were serious when we volunteered. Are we really that mad!

We digressed for a short spell to help some player out with theVirtual Medical Doctor game. Neither of us could remember how to operate the cherion and then Smiley mentioned using the hud, or the cheirons own console. We hadn't played VMD for ages and Smiley admitted that it had been developed when he was on vaction from the Peas. We told him we killed more patients than we saved, but then we couldn't even operate a second life car! Smiley agreed he had smashed into more trees than he cared to remember thank goodness we cannot die in those car wrecks.

Thats the one thing the player has to remember about Sanity Falls, its not always safe to crash your car whilst playing, not that we have any idea what is involved with Sanity Falls we do know that the Peas are up to something. You don't need a Wizard, an alchemist and a necromancing pea to program a game in second life do you? But we do have a wizard, we could call the writers our alchemist weaving words together and creating the story behind Sanity Falls and would that make scriptors necromancers? Who knows all we can do is use our imagination to show you what we think those peas are up to.

We said good bye to Smiley a stealth like cat of the nekko breed in secondlife. Stealth and sleek in second life and believed to have the ability to sneak up an colleagues in real life without being heard, a talent of the cat indeed. We will leave you with his own words on what makes a good game hunt work well. Smiley Dyrssen "making our games work is definitely a team effort... the story and graphics need action to really shine, but no amount of scripting can stand on its own without a world to affect or a story to plan it.Smiley and all the team are definitely well oiled cogs in the machine of MadPea Game productions beware the ides of March, Sanity Falls will be upon us all before you can blink. Thank goodness for peas and Smiley at the helm of the ship that steers the player through the muddy churning water of their mind as they enter Sanity Falls.

After finding this in my inventory I figured I'd add it here as well.. a bit old text, but still very valuable advice. ;)

The A to Z in SL AKA Kiana's guide to newcomers...

AO (Animation Overrider) - A must have! Nothing else needed to say about this, just get one, any of them is better than the noob walk and stands.

Boobs - Now I struggled here for a few minutes whether to add building or boobs and boobs won.. after several years of battling with women's shirt and boobs issues, some genius decided to create a cleavage with a skin texture. Kiana bows. Finally I can wear 'normal' shirts without having to separate my boobies.

Creativity - This is what SL is about and what I love the most. You can create anything you imagine and more. This world is full of possibilites. Don't stick to the norms or care about what other ppl think of you, experiment with your mind and let your creativity shine.

Dance huds aka Chimeras - Get it loaded with hot dances and you'll never be alone on the dance floors again. The next step is to learn those dances in the real life without hurting yourself...

Expose hidden weapons, huds, traps and other 'secrets' by pressing Ctrl+alt+T

Friends - You can definitely create real friendships in a virtual world. Be a bit cautious though, before revealing your deepest and darkest secrets, many people want to keep SL separate from RL.

Groups - Not only you get a cool tag and nice group spam, but you can find like-minded people inside groups and they are also essential for building purposes.

Hate the lag? Make sure to clear your cache on a regular basis to get things run smoother. Stripping off all scripted objects helps too. Nowadays even hair and shoes come with scripts, but you can delete those - the scripts, not the shoes...

Instant messages can get capped if the user is offline, so send important messages preferably on a notecard and make sure to edit your preferences so that your IM's are forwarded to your email.

Join me in 'This place' - Be creative with teleporting friends and send silly messages like 'Set midnight and land straight into my lap'.

Keep your inventory organized - Make new folders under different categories and save a lot of time. Something that some of us should have done a few years ago already instead of struggling now..

Lucky chairs - Wait for your initial to pop up and win something cool (or waste hours to get boots that don't even fit..)

Music - All genres of music, everywhere! Amazing talented live artists and dj's at cool clubs. I always have SL streams on wherever I go, it simply adds to the athmosphere.

Never give up, it takes a while to learn how to do things and find the places and activities you enjoy doing here, but it's definitely worth it! SL is like 'Hotel California', you can checkout anytime you like, but you can never leave!

Original gestures will quickly get you popular in clubs - Find the rare stores or make your own and go crazy!

Poseballs - Hoooo! for poseballs! Test them alone or together but without them sl would be a boring place.

Quicktime - Make sure you have an updated version, it's essential in SL.

Ruth - Sometimes you end up in this nightmarish formation of a mixture of you and noob! Argh! If clicking appearances won't help try to relog and hope for the best...

Sitting - The golden rule in SL! With sitting you can a) avoid griefers that push you or annoy you with their weapons, simply build a basic 1 prim box and sit on it- works as a shield against most weapons!
b) use this same method to get inside any locked building, just sit on it and use the arrows under EDIT to glide
yourself through walls - remember that this won't protect you from possible security orbs...
c) areas where you can't build or place objects down, just use your camera to get inside a house, find the closest chair and sit on it.
d) you will also get out of some traps by clicking the top of the trap and sitting on it.

Traps and weapons - Loads to choose from, but get geared up with the best ones and have hours of fun annoying your friends (until they buy even better ones and when you're trashed for the 10th time the fun kinda disappears...)

Unique - Why in a world where you can be anything you want, many end up looking exact copies of each others. Create your own unique look to separate your avatar from the masses.

V + ctrol + alt - instant FLY everywhere among other superpowers

Wings - Spread, flutter, ruffle or do whatever you want but it seems everyone needs at least a one pair of them here at some point.

XX or XY - Nothing in Second Life is at it seems. Anyone saying that she is a 'voice verified female' usually isn't. Be careful, this is a world where genres mix and people have multiple alts. You never truly know who is behind an avatar, so make sure to keep an open mind.

You - You make sl to what it is! So, get out there, speak your mind, explore, influence and learn.

Zoom - You will be totally lost until you learn to use your zoom.. seriously - practise! (Our ChromaSphere game is a cool toy for learning to use camera controls).

We met paramparamm at the rock faces of Sanity Falls, his avatar is a cross between a hedgehog and a mole although he insists he is a hedgepig, what ever his avatar may be its very sweet and makes the cutest noises when it walks. Sometimes we wonder if seeing the world through the eyes of "tinies" would give us a different perspective. Will Sanity Falls be more or less scary at this height perhaps we shall endeavor to explore it in a tiny avatar.

Springtime at the Falls

As you know Madpea Games is definitely international, the writers, builders and contributors come from all over the world. For most of us its mid winter and very cold but in second life avatars never feel cold and Sanity Falls definitely has a feeling of spring to summer. So if you have never experienced second life and want to get a good experience with low lag. Wear something light, as in not a lot of bling, or heavy prims, or heavy weapons. The secret is the less scripts you wear the less likely you are to crash and be forced to log in again.

We put on our safety hats, because they are still at the building phase of Sanity Falls, which is why no one is allowed in with out security, for your health and safety. Nothing worse than having a building dropped on your head. paramparamm was building a hotel/restaurant today and we where eager to see how that was going. It was being moved and fixed into position. The great thing about prims is once you discover how to link the boxes all together, hollow them out and fix them with a "ruler" you start to understand why people love building in second life its that simple

Building Phase

So how did paramparamm became involved with Madpea Games, he told us that the peas had approached him and asked him to build. We wanted to know about his building experience. paramparam is almost 5 years old in second life, considering its only 8 years old, he has seen many changes. From prim building, to sculpting and of course the new exciting mesh which everyone is talking about. Love it or hate it, mesh is here to stay, all builders say the same it could be better. We are concerned that the Version 1 builders and users will not be able to see mesh, but as paramparam and others have pointed out not many will be staying with 1.23 for much longer.
We are firestorm users, we tried others but it was just not for us. But fortunately Sanity Falls builds are prims and sculpts so there is no fear that players will be disappearing into a mesh building never to be seen again, or appearing out of thin air.

We asked paramparamm what he had contributed to Sanity Falls, he had built the road, terraformed the area and was working on the restaraunt behind the rock face. How are you going to texture it? we asked eagerly, will it be a retro 1960s, grungy like other places. Knowing the peas its going to be an awesome texture what ever they use. We offered to help with the painting and decorating just so we can get an inside peep at the structures and get the whole thing ready on time. Not that they are behind schedule.

Will paramparamm have time to play Sanity Falls, we are all hoping we can have a sneak review before the opening on April 1st, did we mention Grand Opening of Sanity Falls is April 1st and we know what day that is? Most of use celebrate or avoid April 1st because its April Fools Day or Feast of Fools day.


How Peas Celebrate April 1st

Will we be daring enough to play a game that is like no other game/hunt ever seen on MadPea Games? I think we are daring enough to try anything the Madpea Game productions team creates. There is a lot of hard work gone into the one. We know a lot of hard work goes into all the Madpea Games hunts but this one is massive. Is it bigger than Peatonville, thats relative how big is your imagination?

paramparamm works on many projects outside Madpea, and he's not famous at all!!! we where forced the sign the officials secrets act so we didn't spill any beans on those projects. We can say that they are going to be fantastic because paramparamm papp's name is stamped all over them along with other not famous at all contributors, designers, scriptors, handy peas.

We did find a few things on flickr that we are sure its safe to share VWPE and we would like to quote paramparamm on his work there. "imagine that dome was as huge as a region... (256m diameter), standing on the corner of 4 regions to maximize capacity, it was the main auditorium.

All that remains is the photo's we think we will stalk paramparamm to see what he builds in these regions this year. No wonder hes not famous at all!

One thing paramparamm did tell us about is how Second Life came about, its inception if you will is based on various cyberpunk cult novels such as Snow Crash, that and the Burning Man, so come on hands up how many of you knew that little snippet of information eh. We'll be honest only been here a year or so, and we thought Second Life was just a state of the art interactive games site with fun places like Madpea Games to explore, and a lot more besides.

Please note Snow Crash is a Novel, Burning Man is not a novel its an event held in Second Life every Fall. We have recently discovered thanks to Quan that Burning Man is a Real Life event in Nevada. Apparently some refer to Burning Man Second Life as Burning Life, but it is now called BURN2. Thank you Quan for helping to clarify these points with us.

Home of the 'Order of Perception

HarterFall haspleasure in exploiting the possibilities of SLand seems to make the impossiblereal in SL. Ialways suspected his builds as a little bit extraterrestrial,but now I can be sure. He has not only allowedaliens to build a temple on his place atLEA 16, no he actively helpedthem. Now inhabit some monks of the "Order of Perception" a cathedral and plan to open every weekanother portal where we can have a look intoother universes whichbreak the laws of nature. The first portal leads us to the universe of Q-937X1"The Upend", home of the monks of the OrderWunduguan.

I must admit, theymanage to fascinate us earthlings. The MadPeateam is also infectedand just installed a smallhunt that we visitorshave even more fun.

How to Produce Fireworks?

I wondered already a long time what the left looking building on MadPea Base sim isabout. One day I had some time and took the chance to lookaround there. I see long hallways,a gymnasium, a cafeteria, meetingrooms, washrooms and a laboratory. I appreciate the realistic looking builds.

On a table I find a HUD and wear it.The HUD consists of a book where I findall that is needed for the manufacture offireworks and how to prepare it.The ingredients first I need to collect together in the building wherethey are scattered around. On my way I landedin a Escape Room. To get outthere is quite similar to the already described 70oes room. You get another HUDthere and need to find and combine items to get out. So, you are warned whenyou stand in front of this door:

Now it couldgo ahead with my fireworks.After I had found all items in the HUD, I went to the lab. In each workstation belongs to a page in my HUD.I had to follow the steps to finish it. That means I had to mill, to burn, to cool down, to crash and to mix carefully. That was really fun and now I have a new hammer in my inventory. That can always be useful ;)

When I finished my fireworks, I covered my ears:

We met Madpea Games very own sound machine Lorin Tone walking on an iron bridge and dressed like a Monkey.
"I am making environmental sounds for Sanity Falls" he said

We caught up with Lorin a few days later and asked him if making music was something he did in his real life. He admitted that he had been doing sound production for a very long time and he was a professional sound producer, he also played the pipe organ, percussion, keyboard and synthesisers where his "thing" and that he was a professional rocker. His friends Eolene and Paramparamm arrived whilst we where talking about his real life and Eolene asked if he could play bagpipes like her brother. Lorin happily turned into a bagpipe bird that had been created by Madcow. You have to smile at the unreality of Second Life, from a monkey to a bagpipe in two seconds flat.

Lorin became involved in Madpeas Games via his friend Madcow who introduced him to the group. So "you're a seasoned madpea then" we asked, he told us he had been around a year, that is a long time in the world of second life, where there are four days in one of our days, thats the equivalent to four years. So he had been working on quite a few hunts and he gets involved in the production of the video productions like this one.

We wanted to know if Lorin was responsible for the deadly screams on the dictaphone at Peatonville Asylum, he admitted that he was, "but its not me screaming" he laughed. He uses professional sounds that he has either produced or has the license to use in production of screaming dictaphones, sinister yells or even horribly creaky doors and floor boards. Lorin said he found Peatonville very enjoyable and that he was enjoying his work on Sanity Falls. So just how far do the sound effects go in Sanity Falls we cannot wait to find out for our selves.

Where there is need for a noise, its probably Lorin that made it, and we cannot wait to hear to final cut of these wonderful effects. If you think about real life everything has a noise, so its the silence you start to fear. Go around any sim in second life and you will hear the sound of rushing waters, birds cawing, singing, even the howling of wolves and you think you heard it all before. Yet when we walk around the secret location of Sanity Falls we discover that the sound is almost real, sounds you never heard before mingled with familiar ones.

That is the magic of a good soundscape, we took our victim for a walk on the bridge, and heard things from our nightmares. It wasn't long before we started jumping and turning at noises and asking "Who's there" but no one answered so we walked a little faster and again we heard haunting melodies and unerving noises, they really are unlike anything we have heard in second life before.

Dressed for her dreams, our victim posed, pyjamas/pj's optional but not required for Sanity Falls, you might want to bring your teddy bear or cuddly rock for company though. Madpea Games production is all about using your imagination afterall, when that goes awry it starts to feel like a bit of nightmare.

YAY! 'Show and Tell' on Sunday!

After the great relaunch of the builders event “Show and Tell ” two weeks ago tomorrow it will be held again.

"Show and Tell" has been a popular event for almost 7 years. MadPea generously host the event now and donated 1000 Linden for the prizes. The pot can be increased significantly by visitor donations. Each participant will receive guaranteed 100 Linden, the rest will be distributed to the winners.

We met Midgard in Hoshi, he had not long completed a beautiful prim/sculpted iron bridge and now he was working on another project for Sanity Falls. So how did Midgard become involved with designing and creating object in second life and how did he become involved in madpea game productions.

Midgard told us he was fairly new to the MadPea Game production team but no less valued by everyone, he is new to the building game with prims. His experience comes from programs such as 3DS Max, Wings 3D, Daz Studio and Bryce. State of the art drawing programs that encourage the builder to formulate and reproduce designs, using vertices and rigging to create object that are then textured and rendered. Very similar to building with prims in second life, but these programs allow you to store the UV maps and Obj files on your computer for reuse, and resell. Thats probably why Midgards natural progression in this design game is like many others, heading towards the use and concept of mesh in second life builds. Mesh is the latest "tool" for builders that has been introduced to second life is it the best thing since "sliced bread" well it eats prims thats one thing people don't realise about it. Although we are as interested in mesh as the next builder we are more curious about Sanity Falls Bridge and of course its creator Midgard.

"It looks like real iron," we suggested, he laughed because we both know its not real iron but when you look at the work he has applied to this bridge you can almost believe it is really iron. Its been beautiful textured and rendered and really is a state of the art masterpiece in Second Life.

We wanted to know where Midgard's idea for such a state of the art bridge came from. He grinned and showed us the original real life picture of a bridge one of the team of writers, behind Sanity Falls had given him.

Yes we can see how Midgard creation resembled the real life iron bridge, it is a sight to behold and we cannot wait for players/victims to see it for themselves. Every detail has been lovingly created, sculpted we imagine and textured. Just look at the intricate workings of the bridge. Deliberately muted to protect Midgards design rights.

This beautiful bridge is very significant to the story that is Sanity Falls, so how did Midgard create that iron work. He mentioned an old tool that help to align prims making the textures as seamless as possible. We admitted to having an affinity in real life to anything that looked like a bridge, be it a wooden whicker bridge over a stream or our fantastic Silver Jubilee Bridge that stretches across the River Mersey near our home. Bridges are something to be admired, Midgard agreed that he had a collection of real life Bridges. So having this beautiful masterpiece of prim engineering right here in our favourite sim, was a joy for both of us.

So what is the significance of this iron "monster" your probably wondering. Well it is very significant to the story that the writers have weaved for the game Sanity Falls and it is only game right? and its safe. Yet to play the game you must suspend belief to live out that story with the character, and why not suspend belief to live or die in a game, that we desperately want to finish, to beat, to end, to WIN at all costs.

We play games to win, we hunt to win, spin the concepts of hunting into a game and you have an idea what Sanity falls was built upon. We can't tell you much about the actual story behind the game Sanity Falls, its all a mystery even to us. We are just going to have to wait like our dear readers to find out what is so special, so frightening about Sanity Falls. We do know that this iron masterpiece is very significant to the story.

Where does it all start? perhaps it starts right here on a bridge in the middle of a wilderness, surrounded by trees and mystery, and water. Are YOU out of your depth, can YOU get across the bridge without ending up back where you started. Are YOU? game for Sanity Falls. What is Sanity Falls, its a game and you will be calling its name for months to come. "Remember Peatonville?" they'll say and your look on in sadness or happiness and say "I tried Sanity Falls" so compelling you try again and again, but will you WIN that is the question.

Fun for a Single Player: Escape Room

There are days where you come online, and no friend is around. What to do? MadPea offers also single-players fun and amusement. A great example is the Escape Room near the bingo game. Inconspicuous from the outside, it reveals inside its full beauty! * hehe *

Seventies design at its finest: Wallpaper with huge eyes, lava lamp, Kiss poster, record player ... everything there! But once if you're in, you will notice that you cannot get out there. Now the game starts! On top of the computer you get on click a HUD.

Wear it and start to collect objects. In the chat you'll get hints how use the objects once you pick them up. Click in the objects in the HUD to make use of them. With a little patience, it is not that difficult to get out. Escape Room offers a single player real fun. It took me about 40 minutes; experienced players will succeed faster.

Be prepared for a sensational event. The master of particles in SL, Tyrehl Byk and the master of electronic music in SL, Ultraviolet Alter are celebrating a live event to say goodbye to the MadPea sim. While MadPea is creating new fun and adventures on the remaining 3 sims, Madpea was already empty and gave this great opportunity.

Tyrehl is an outstanding creator of particle effects. His former shows “Phantasmagoria” and “Catharsis” has been a huge success. Sasun Steinbeck said about Catharsis: "This is by far one of the coolest things I have *ever* seen in SL... and I've seen a lot!" And Rebeca Bashly commented: "This is just brilliant, i have never seen such thing here! it was super! that camera control thing is awesome!" Tyrehl also did live shows before, here is a video:

Ultraviolet is a universal gifted artist. In Second Life, she is Builder and Composer. Her live performances of electronic music have a huge fan group in Second Life.

Pol Jarvinen said about her music: “Listening to Ultra's music, it's like sitting by the ocean and listening to wave after wave gently lapping up on the beach. Because it goes "nowhere", you stay where you are and you are transported to a state of peace and timelessness. Within minutes of first hearing her music you realize that you are hearing a live show of incredible beauty and warmth.” Sadly she never records her performances, but if you want to get an idea, I recommend visiting the installation “Art Planet” by Betty Tureaud. The sounds are composed by Ultraviolet especially for this work.

This is the first cooperation of these outstanding artists and we are looking forward to an event that people will talk about for a long time. Seats are strictly limited, so make sure to appear on time.

Ti'chelle a member of the Host Team

We met Ti'chelle on her home ground and discovered that we both love dragons, some are simply beautiful others are adorable. Created by Wraithe Designs, a must future buy for us as we are very partial to mystical creatures.

We asked her how she and the team prepare hunt locations and what sort of work goes into the process. Without Ti'chelle and the teams work, and diligence there wouldn't be a hunt it is a tasking business that is vital to the cog and machine work of a good hunt.

Once the set is designed for the game a Poster is prepared, here is the one from the Peatonville Asylum Hunt. This is sent to all interested vendors and posted in many locations, then the Vendors have to apply to be prize hunt locations.

Ti'chelle explained that they get far more contenders and applicants than they have room for, so not only do they have to sift through each application they have to "vet" each application. One rule is paramount. No Adult Sims are used, Mature, Moderate and PG are ok but nothing Adult. Some hunts do have Adult sims included, but Madpea Productions does not.

After checking applications Ti'chelle and the team of host vendors visit each location, so if 100 apply and 90 are suitable each one will get a visit. There are four team members and each one will be allocated a group of shops to visit.

From a Previous Madpea Games Hunt

Ti'chelle explained the process "We visit each shop, even if they have been in a hunt before, because people do change their shops. We get a feel for what they sell. We do groups visits to shops that none of us know about, just to be able to talk about what each of us thinks.

So how do they get the poster and information to the shops and vendors who are going to be involved in the prizes?
Ti'chelle: We send the poster and notecard to it to SLHunts blog, and other bloggers that we know. Also hunt groups like Happy Hunters and Hunt Applications. We also each send to shops that we like and or know. Or a shop that has been in a hunt and we liked their goods. Sometimes a vendor hears through a friend and contacts us.
From the collection they recieve every application is documented on Google spreadsheet Then we sort them into ones we know we will use , and some that we still need to decide, and then those that we cannot use at all. By doing this Ti'chelle and the team run successful hunts every time.


Virtual Imagery of Application Process

We wanted to know how do you choose shops, venues, genre and what sort of prizes can hunters expect?

Tichelle explained. The prizes are a mix of different genre, for example full perm textures, furniture, fun, clothes and other interesting products that the hunters will enjoy finding and keeping.
Kiana likes us to get stores that we have not had in a hunt before too. Its difficult trying to decide which store is in and which ones are out. We limit them to 50 stores. If the prize is for example clothes, they have to provide unisex or male and female prize in the package. They encourage the stores to provide themes, but this is not mandatory. Most shops fit their prize to the poster which is why the call for applications don't start until the poster is ready to go.

Ti'chelle and the team have to decide what is best for the hunt, theme, area, location of host vendor, store cooperation, its very difficult when they have to turn down personal friends because they didn't meet the criteria they are looking for.

We wanted to know the time scale from poster, application and selection, Ti'chelle said its about two weeks, which is a very fast turn over. They must work really fast on this application process.

Ti'chelle said "once applications are in thats when the big job starts, tracking and visiting."

We always wanted to know who hides the object, shop or the team?

Ti'chelle said "The shop hides the item, then they send us the slurl. We visit and make the hint. Kiana does most of the hints. She likes them to fit the theme of the game and she is very good at rhyme. Most hunts rely on the shop to make their own hint, but we are also doing a game and we want things to flow in the storyline. Our hunts are the only ones that makes the hints.

Ti'chelle added, "Once they are chosen it becomes rather standard, send a welcome kit with poster and instructions. And yes, we go around and check. We also go around and check their prize slurl location, and then when the hunt item is sent and placed, we check it works, and then," she laughed
"we go around and check once prizes are in the hunt item, so yeah, we make many visits to each store.

Phew, we felt exhausted just thinking about all the work it takes to make a good hunt work. We have no doubt at all that Sanity Falls and consecutive hunts will be run just as meticulously as past hunts. So now you know what makes a good hunt tick. The inner workings of the hunt, the graphics, the art work, the building and most importantly the placing of those all important gifts that we all hunt so desperately for or do some of us just go along for the fun of it all. Just the sheer magic, and a little time to just absorb our avatars in to a unique self role play if you will as the story plays out. We guarantee there is nothing like Sanity Falls in Second Life, we have been told this by our wonderful production team.

We hope to glean some information from the Writers, but that folks is so top secret even we with our invisibility cloaks cannot prise it out of their fingers. All we can say is they are working to write and weave a little bit of second life magic that is going to drive you Insane. Now where are we going to put the Peatonville Asylum for all those poor avatars who suffer, either withdrawal, mania or euphoria when they finish or at least aim to finish Sanity Falls. We will be back with more news as we get it, for now, the wrappings are sealing around the secret location and we are bound by Madpea Games clauses of confidentiality and official secret pease acts to keep silent about the game.

The game you will all be saying "Yeah I loved Peatonville, but that Sanity Falls um yeah? who am I again" from your small cells that awaits you, on a sim near you in an asylum that was so scary it blew its self up. Be happy Peas.

It will be loud – it will be fun. Drum is a group of high class live performers well known as creators of beautiful rhythms. The DRUM group have collaborated to create the unique sounds, drums, and animations.

To give you an idea, here is a machinima of a show:

The Show of DRUM presents 9 different cultures of drumming from all over the world: Japanese, Native American, African, Latin, Indian, Mallets, Stomp Wall. The team plays besides that a special set of Rusty Drums. DRUM does not use pre-recorded music, so each show will be unique.

DRUM is very well known and popular. We expect a large audience. Make sure to appear on time. There is so much to do on MadPea sim!

Meeting Artist Harter Fall

We met Harter at LEA sim, that would be Local Education Authority right? wrong, it stands for Linden Endowment for Art. Thank you Linden, for giving free sims to artists. We wonder if we are arty enough for free sim, but then we havn't seen art like this before.

Harters art work is fantastic, we look on in wonder at his latest project "The Order of Perception" in the distance is a beautiful dome shaped building, the temple. This project is still under construction, we cannot wait to see the finished article.
In front of us stand 3 monks.

"These are Multi Demensional Monks, they open portals to other dimensions and universes in the temple" Harter explained.
"Thats the little story around the illusions I show here, the portals send you to skyboxes above,"

We walked into the Temple of "The Order of Perception" the picture explains it best, because you actually see what we saw for the first time. We feel it is breathtaking both architecturally and in an ethereal sense.

Still if this was role play and someone was bringing our character to the temple for judgement this could be terrifying. Imagine those chairs filled with throngs of people looking down on you, baying for your characters life. Yes this beautiful temple has both beauty and fear entwined within every sculpted prim. Can you honestly believe how beautiful and glossy the prims look. We where mesmerised, by Harters skills and imagery to put this together. Each window was semi translucent stained glass with three circles spelling out the purpose of this temple a transportation chamber to other worlds.

Your probably wondering what all this has to do with Sanity Falls, well we can tell you this. Imagine being transported to a place where you have no memory of what happened to you or practically who you are. Then imagine trying to leave that place and being transported to another place. A dream scene, a place that conjures up nightmarish fears and images that are all too real to player if they suspend belief as they try to win the game. Perhaps Harters "The Order of Perception" is just like what you can expect in Sanity Falls, there again perhaps it is nothing at all like the serenity of this beautiful temple.
In his own words Harter said this "I love to play with perception, so I was asked to build the dreamscenes for the game. The player will experience "backflashes" and will end up in a dreamscene, which is surreal and dreamish. The scenes will be large scale landscapes, using the technology of 360° panoramic projections used in secondlife, like nightmares, each scene with its own moods,"

Harter transported us to an empty plain, and after some time we studied the masterful piece of art work. No wonder he wins prizes for his art work. At first glance its just some matchsticks walking across a book, but when the Artist explains what it means, you see it for what it is.

Harter took us to another gallery now this is one huge illusion in itself. In real life we fear heights and in second life, its taken us a long time to get used to life in the sky. So when we saw how the lights hang under the floor, how black the floor is, yes we where a little afraid to walk across the expanse of blackness to study his art forms. Having Harter there helped because he wouldn't be standing on thin air would he?


Harters Gallery

Is this what the unwary victim/player of Sanity Falls is going to experience, dark floors in the dreamscapes, and fear of the unknown, each tentative step holding their breath moving slowly afraid the floor might just open up. Its happened before, at Peatonville Asylum the floor just fell away, plunging the player into an under ground chasm, could the creators be that cruel again? Anything could happen in the MadPea Games "Sanity Falls".

From one dark illusionary room, with a state of the art illusionary masterpiece to another dark room with yet more masterpieces to study and admire. .....

In doing this you should be able to see Harters illusions at their best.

Would be interesting to see some of these in Sanity Falls dreamscapes scenes, the only way to show you is via photos, or for you to visit Harters Gallery to see them for yourself and if you love them that much, buy them and amuse your friends.

We talked about Escher and his perceptual drawings and illusions, we discovered that we share a fondness for Escher, and it was Escher that helped Harter to realise his dream in second life and in the real world. He showed us more of his art work and the awards he had been presented with.

We wanted to know more about the art work called Risen.
So Harter explained "well the risen is whatever you see just forms for your phantasy,"
We commented that we saw odd things, like spidery forms, could it be another fear looming, we don't like spiders much!
Harter laughed "like a rorschach figure,"

He showed us another one, this one is fascinating, we think they all fascinating.
Harter "this one here, if you stare at it a while, it changes the rotation direction"
It does indeed and this one could probably induce sleep, its so relaxing, Harter said some of his pieces are meditative.

The Medussa, we mention this briefly because if you stare at it too long it can induce seizures, we won't look at that one for too long, but it really is fascinating, seems to be hollow inside of course its an illusion.

We discussed light scripting and illusion, what makes the things he make "tick" of course a true magician never reveals his tricks so why should Harter tell us everything about these magical toys of his, these would look great in executive offices of second life. Homes too, I thought second life fountains where beautiful but when you see these, these are something else. Are any of these or something similar likely to be in the dreamscenes of Sanity Falls?

No one knows yet what Harter may add to those dreamscapes, we are hoping that we can show you a little sneaky peek of the work that Harter and the builders behind Sanity Falls create, but whether we will, depends on MadPea Games productions. Will we drop any clues or hints right here in the blog? that would be telling, we just don't know.

As we have said before Sanity Falls production is all a bit of mystery, its unravelling slowly and we will try to bring you the latest information as it arrives. Yesterday the first contest was held with great success. Lorin Tone assisted by Judi Newall has done a great job. As expected 6 participants were soon logged on the board and the fun started. Each had 10 minutes time to rez the work, to tell about it and answer questions from the audience. Everyone had fun and the prize pool has been enlarged by generous donations. After the presentation the audience had to vote.

We met Eolene on Hoshi Island, the place where MadPea Games develops all its fantastic hunts.The only thing about Hoshi Island is legend has it, if you stay in one place too long, tentacles grow out of the road way. Accompanying Eo, were Harter, Kiana and Mido, fellow contributors in MadPea Games creations.We asked Eolene just what is in store for any unwary player/victim that embarks on the new and wonderful game Sanity Falls. This is Eolene's interpretation and drawing of the final cut.

Kiana was busy writing the Outlines for the hunt and we were watching out for tentacles that might just spring up out of the road way. In its proverbial fashion, Second Life lag was at play and some of the people present were greyed out, this is just one of the mysterious delights of second life that the more seasoned players and participants get used to.We asked Eolene how she became involved in MadPeas games. She mentioned in her humble fashion, "I bugged them to do their bingo games, but I was not official then" she explained.After speaking with Pearers, an affection name for groups of MadPea Games officials, after sometime she was taken on by the Peas, running Bingo is just one of her talents.

Her other talent is building and creating Toyland. An exquisite little haven of Toys, larger than the average avatar and some may feel scared or intimidated by their childhood toys springing to life. The television, etch sketch, brightlights, and her favourite Connect Four. Eo told us how she became involved with the last hunt, and made a sign for it.

Eo has also been in second lifes version of Survivor and she has created things for Firefly. We wanted to know if Bozo was going to get a part in Sanity Falls as we believe every avatar should be knocked out once or twice by this scary inflatable clown that hides in Toyland.

"He would need a new texture" Eo suggested, well we seriously think that guy is scary enough but if you want to make him even scarier. Just what are we and the innocent players going to let themselves in for with Sanity Falls?

Eo smiled "its going to be a dream, and kind of scary, in a dark kind of way," she replied.

So if we think her larger than avatar sized toys are scary, may be we just play too many MadPea Game hunts for our own good? What will Eo produce for Sanity Falls? Innocent clowns that bop you one on the nose? dolls like Chucky? But she said no toys, so what exactly will she build?

Looks like we all just have to wait and see what on "secondlife" MadPea Games has in store for the unwary victim or innocent game player.

What we do know is that Sanity Falls is going to be a revoluntionary game and not your average hunt, and more scary and challenging than Peatonville Asylum, which was so scary it scared itself and blew up!!!

Sanity Falls is going to follow in the footsteps of Peatonville, with an even scarier story from the writers, and fantastic creators, designers, and choreography/scripting. Its all a bit of a mystery that we are slowly peeling back the wrapping paper from and showing you what it might be. There again, what we think Sanity Falls is you might think differently.

Perhaps it will be so scary you just won't venture back if the game sends you home with these words ringing in your ears as you teleport homeward.
"You have been sent home, because you DIED"
That scary moment when you realise you're not invincible in Second Life before and have now unwittingly entered a new realm of the unknown.
For those who spend too long in one place, on Hoshi, beware the tentacles of Hoshi Island. Yes they really do exist or do they just exist in the mind of the creators of MadPea Games.Where anything can happen, its just a game though right?

“Show and Tell” today – Interview with Lorin Tone

Quan Lavender: Hi Lorin, nice to meet you. You will host the event. Tell me a bit about the history.
Lorin Tone: The original was hosted by florenze Kerensky and Barney Boomslang for about 6 years, and was a very popular weekly event. Many fine builders attended showing a wide array of fun stuff.
Quan Lavender: Where was it held and why did it came to an end?
Lorin Tone: The first one was held at various locations over the years. florenze and Barney had to end it because they've been busy with RL stuff. Many people were devastated that it came to an end, so we're going to try to bring a new one back.
Quan Lavender: So you convinced Kiana now to held it at MadPea?
Lorin Tone: Well, Bobbi was doing a similar show and tell, but I asked Kiana for permission to try it the way flo and Barney did it. So we're going to try it today!
Quan Lavender: I am looking forward to it! Do you know already some who plan to take part?
Lorin Tone: flo and Barney were wonderful hosts, I will try to make ours as enjoyable as theirs was. I know that some regulars from the old Show and Tell will attend today, but don't know who will show until they all sign up. Fortunately, Judi Newall will be assisting me today. Inventor Alchemy and Xon Halostar have suggested that they might show some new things, we'll see

Quan Lavender: Who will make the winners choice?
Lorin Tone: The audience decides the winners by voting on our voting board. Prize money will be awarded proportionally to all the presenters. Attendees can also contribute to the pot. That's the fun of Show and Tell, everyone is a part of it, whether they show or not.
Quan Lavender: I understand. So thank you for your time. Do you wish something to add?
Lorin Tone: lol.....I wish to add that I'm nervous, but I'll do my best! And I look forward to getting Show and Tell going again.

"Show and Tell" is back!

MadPea, presented by Lorin Tone brings an old tradition back to life. "Show and Tell" has been a popular event for almost 7 years. MadPea generously host the event now and donated 1000 Linden for the prizes. The pot can be increased significantly by visitor donations. Each participant will receive guaranteed 100 Linden, the rest will be distributed to the winners.Each participant has an area of 25x25m available for the builds and an hour to present and comment the work. We think the board will fill up pretty quickly, so builders are recommended to show up early.

One day till Sanity Falls building gets started.. We are absolutely buzzed to bring out a whole new idea with some amazing twists. For this game, we have a team with serious talent... you get to read about each person involved on this blog in more very soon..

Sanity Falls team includes builders & graphic artists: Madcow Cosmos, Eolene Uralia, Harter Fall, Paramparamm Papp and Midgard Ibanez. Scipters: Smiley Dyrssen, Zachh Barkley and Fuzz Difference. Sounds & audio: Lorin Tone. Tichelle Teebrook and Clicquot Oh will be the vendor managers and I try to manage the madness somehow...

The storyline is now done and building will begin tomorrow! Starting from an empty canvas.

The Wizard Creator

We met Zachh in his Wizarding Reaml The Arcanum, rightly called the Wizarding Capitol of the World and it definitely seemed to be the right sort of atmosphere and creation for what you could imagine a Wizarding Capitol would look like.

After discussing dress code, which is always important when landing in Realms/Sims such as these, we where assured by Zachh that there were no dress code requirements, although if it where not for second life lag it would have been fun to dress up on this occassion.
Zachh teleported us to a location, where he hoped we would be un disturbed. A beautiful circular ball room, with many tables and party balloons, a polished wooden floor with a large pattern similar to Arcanum's emblem carved into the floor. It was perfect for their Christmas Ball.

We asked Zachh how he became involved with MadPeas Games, he expressed a passion for the creation of worlds and story telling and his desire to bring something to second life that no one had experienced before.

It all sounded very exciting and mysterious, but MadPea Games are known for the mysterious and very confusing games and hunts that they create. So whatwas different about "Sanity Falls" we wondered.

"Sanity Falls is a compelling story that guides players on a chase across the grid and back, unraveling the mystery of the story on the way" Zach said.

"Are you excited?" we asked.

"Oh yes very excited, not only is it interactive the story is so rich that it makes it immersive to the players"

We where curious to discover what influenced Zachh's builds, his designs for this realm/sim and what he has instore for the players of Sanity Falls.

Zachh mentioned that he was inspired by many sources, but that he likened the hunt to a video game called Alan Wake. Considering that we always get killed playing video games, we pressed Zachh to tell us if the player was likely to survive Sanity Falls.

"Wait and see" he smiled.

All he could venture was that players couldn't literally die, but will be sent home, which is technically what second life does to you if you fall off a sky box, rather than go splat they send you home.
"You have been sent home, because you died"
For the second lifer who considered they where invincible, being told your dead is a bit of a wake up call, makes you cautious about staying under water too long or crossing second life roads, or driving manically in cars around private sims.

So this game is going to have real consequences for the players actions? we asked, Zachh agreed "Right, like true role playing,"
We wanted to know more about Zachh, you have to see the Wizarding World for your self to understand what drives Zachh to create it. It really is a work of art. So what drives Zachh's passion for the Realm he has created. Is it games like Alan Wake? does anything else drive him?

"Absolutely, my favourite kind of games are RPGs. The ones that tell an extremely compelling story, but also allow you to explore and get lost in theworld around you. Games such as Alan Wake, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, The Elder Scrolls are masterpieces,

Each one tells a story, your not compelled to move to rapidly you can pick it apart, do what you want and see what happens next, what affects the outcome."

His realm Arcanum certainly conveys mystery and other worldly charm. A great battle has commenced here, broken buildings crumble around us, and yet the building we are in is still standing strong. Just one of the many wonders that second life can bring and be created in the hands of Wizards like Zachh. These are not just prims, these are the creations of a master artist.

This is exactly what the player is likely to experience in Sanity Falls, a game unlike any other, where consequences affect the outcome, where there are many different endings, a game that is going to wake up and shake up Second Lifers and hopefully have them begging for more all thanks to the MadPeas Games experience and the creators behind it.

BINGO FUN

Do you also know Bingo only from movies? I did until last week. But Second Life makes everything possible. MadPea runs daily the popular game and I discovered, it's great fun. Click on the sign and get a folder with the game card as HUD and a hat to put on. The host starts the game and similar to a lottery it spits out randomly numbers. The goal is, to get horizontally, vertically or diagonally a line of numbers. Who is getting it first, wins the donated prize from the pot and the cards automatically reset for the next round. You must not to be concerned to miss a number, because the HUD is getting them automatically. Therefore, all players are relaxed and have fun chatting.

Heaven Wizardly said: "I love Bingo, I think it has to do with the chance at winning lindens. I also Play the Byngo Bonus that sl has now, but I still like to come here, it is more of a friendly gathering...I love it, I try to come as often as I can." Tracy Wulluf joines Bingo always together with her partner and said: "yes we love it and come here alot it is a great way to pass time as a couple when we are not busy." No wonder that Bingo is so well visited. I will definitely go again too.

THE ASYLUM WENT NUTS

Awwwww,tooo bad! Due to technical issues we lost the Peatonville Asylum. As we havemany exciting events to come, our builders will not have time to rebuild it forthe last few days. Lucky you! The HUD is still available for free in the groupnotices and you will find all sheets easily on the pink prim. So you directly canhop into the shops and look for the artefacts combined with the gifts. Last Days Of A Cool Hunt For Free!

Here is real highlight! The last days of a beautiful and challenging hunt. "The Peatonville Mystery" is a gridwide hunt that was built by MadPea in collaboration with P4NDOR4 Quintessa in the look of P4NDOR4's wonderful, gloomy sim Pandemonium.

You have to wear a hud and look for small pieces of paper. They give you a link to shops where you have to find artefacts.

As soon as you find them you receive immediately a gift. The game runs until January 6. For the HUD you had to pay a fee of 100 Linden. For the last days, CEO Kiana Writer generously sent the HUD for free to the group members. Join the MadPea group and check the notices. Happy hunting!
