Welcome to the MadPea Carneval

The stale smell of the air and the nearly tangible sensation of despair will make you want to turn back before even entering. Your throat feels tight and eyes are watering, trying their best to adjust to the dustiness. Deep inside you know already that death lurks around here, yet you're mesmerized and unable to run away. The calls of dancing souls have captured your mind and you feel the sudden urge to dive in to unite with them. What you don't realize is that,  I am and you are, one of them already.

Full of frights and cloaked in shadows, the Carneval stands still, frozen in time. There are whispers and scaretales of its frightening adventures, haunted rides and unparalleled mysteries. Those who seek adventure are encouraged to step right up and prepare for an experience that will leave you begging for more.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome to the Madness, the Carneval gates open at Halloween 12pm SLT.

The Carneval is created by MadPea Productions

B I G opening tomorrow!

Hello dear readers,

I am so incredibly proud to open the MadPea Carneval tomorrow. It's crazy to think that MadPea has been creating in Second Life for over 4 years now. In the past we have been noticed because of our fresh ideas and immersive and interactive games. We have done various genres, yet one thing has been common for everything we do: The Quality. I can't emphasize enough how many hours of love, sweat, blood, passion and dedication goes into each creation. When we do something, we do it well. Naturally, this means that each time, we have to somehow try to do something even better than the previous time and with 4 years of creating.. I don't think I need to even say more...

Carneval Entrance

I admit, I have pushed the team to their limits. Lured them into their dark sides and making them feel the despair the Carneval needed. We have created a place that gets under your skin. Not only it's our home, our Peapod and place for our store, our games, rides and attractions.. it's a place that pulls you back in because you have the constant feeling that something is about to happen. Maybe it's the ghosts of the freaks who were slaughtered there appearing for a revenge or maybe.. it's the feeling of hope that something good might surface after all the madness.

Evil emerging

I can not express my gratitude enough for these amazing talented people who gave their all to create this amazing experience. It's everything I imagined and a lot more. The beautiful scenery will encourage and inspire photographers and machinima makers.

My deepest gratitude goes to my amazing team behind this huge adventure:

Harter Fall for putting up with my insane demands and keeping me sane. You are my rock, always.
Arduenn Schwartzman for your nonstop energy and mad concepts.
Fae Varriale for sharing my dark side and embracing it.
Geoffrey Xenobuilder for the craziest ideas and always being there.
Linus Humphreys for the little details that make the big difference.
Lorin Tone for making the world sound fun.
paramparamm Papp for not posting my naked photos in our store, no need to say more.
Penelope Parx for new inspirations and dedication.
RAG Randt for incredible stamina ja passion.
Zachh Barkley for magic...
Apollosmile for the smoothest rollercoaster in the whole SL.
claudia222 Jewell for creating her final piece of art for MadPea and our mad talks about men.
Clicquot Oh for always being there for anything.
cold Frog for fantastic photos and finding the weird stuff we need.
Elizabeth Tinsley for support and making sure there is always a light.
Fuzz Difference for never giving up and being a white rabbit.
Glitch Axelrad for playing my bad cop whenever I need one.
Madcow Cosmos for being there still in spirit, his work lives on with MadPea always.
Quan Lavender for making sure people know about MadPea.
Smiley Dyrssen for our old games that still run after 4 years. Hope to see you back soon.
Voidheart Mistwalker for jumping in with such a short notice and making things awesome.
Yooma Mayo for the amazing rollercoaster design.
Yuna Khaos for being always positive.

Kyle Beckett, Aneris Allen, Krista Darbyshire and MysteriousNow Magnifico for being brave and trying to break things so we have chance to fix them before anyone else notices...

None of this would be possible without our generous sponsor, Cha Klaar, whose continous support keeps us going.

Thank you for reading. You are the reason we keep creating. :)

Hope to meet you tomorrow at 12pm SLT at the Freak Stage

From the cage of the freaks and from the bottom of my heart,

Praying Mary Hunt Gifts: Finlandia

From our group chat:

Julia (julia.warwillow): I was sad when I got to the end of that hunt. I wanted it to continue!! It was so well done and planned!

As to the hunt prizes we have something special for you today. The presented place is not a shop, but a nice sim to explore. We talk to Danilea Finchy, owner of Finlandia:

Daniela Finchy: I have built a Sim named Finlandia. Finlandia is a nature and park themed sim. My intention is to show the Finland and finnish habits to second life for all users. At sim you can just hang out, relax and explore at sim. At sim sometimes has themed events. i dont not sell anything at sim and all events are free. I just want to that all enjoy what sim offer SIM and like it to be there.

See here the great hunt gift, a spooky prop with 9 poses:

Daniela Finchy: I havent sell anything never.  Allways just give it free. I myself put prize to 0L everyone can made the prize how much is that worth :) To me its enough that person like it. Thats all in matters!

Praying Mary Hunt: Impish

Awwwhh, another great blog post at FabFree about the hunt: http://fabfree.wordpress.com/2012/10/21/the-case-of-praying-mary-part-2/. Thank you Kyle Beckett!

See here more great gifts! Today we talk to Nix Marabana, owner of Impish:

Nix Marabana: Well, Impish is what I started when I realized that I spent way too much time making things that I couldn't sell in my other store, kisetsu (I just sell traditional japanese stuff there). So Impish is for all the crazy punky/gothy/spookycute things that I want to make when I'm not making kimono.

And that are the prizes for the hunters:

Nix Marabana: My prize for the girls is something of my building-obsession this month... I started making flying witches brooms for a gacha fair, and I just kept making them and making them... I have at least 4 series of them in the works, but this one will be completely unique to this hunt.
As for the guys, well this gift is more unisex I guess (technically a guy could ride the broom too, but the animations might be a little weird)... I love making little scripted accessory type items, and I'll probably be making a lot more in the future now that I'm finding my feet with the craziness that is Impish. So I'm making a little scripted fortune teller that gives a daily fortune.

8 more days till Carneval release!

While we are anxiously waiting for the opening, here's a few words from our betatester Krista Darbyshire:

" I was a little disoriented at first, feeling a bit unsettled by the surroundings, but after a minute of exploring the immediate area in I felt more comfortable and was able to navigate my way up the stairs. Haha, only to realize I was walking into a skull full of teeth. It was a little dark, difficult to see where I was going. Made me squint as I walked through the darkened cavern/tunnel and the, boom, light and a village that looks like it belongs in a Lovecraft novel.."

Carneval teaser image by cold Frog

"The whole place has the film noir feel. The murky skies remind me of a sepia photo... haha... or a really bad air day in Los Angeles. Makes me feel like I should have my inhaler handy, just-in-case...The thing ahead of you... what is it, you wonder. You look closer.... 'Are those bodies?!' You look even closer. 'Oooh, haha, dead rag dolls on nooses. Very clever.' And then you realize there are no seats and that your only option for a ride on this is likely in a noose yourself. 'Oh dear...."

Praying Mary Hunt Gifts: Senzafine

Our Peas love the hunt. From our group chat:

Trahma Pandion (trahma): wow, that was fun... it was Fantastic! Best hunt I have been on in a long Time!

Malko Rosca: I just finished the hunt, it was great fun, thanks to all the owner of the 15 places and the organisers

adeleroseleee: I soooooooooo can't wait for the next hunt :) when is the next one, so I can put it in my diary, calendar, set my phone alarm and everything lmao xx

This succes is due to the story, the gamer have to follow, but also due to the prizes. They are far beyond the average. Today we talk to Synjari Le'Kitty (synjari myriam), owner of Senzafine - Curiosities & Accoutrements:

Synjari Le'Kitty: I've long been interested in creating within SL and in being an avid gamer, I've seen so many wonderful things and have thought to myself.. if only I could do what that person does. My styles is a range of different styles, as my interests lie in many different spaces, so I tend to create whatever I am most inspired by at any given time. Currently my product offerings are in furniture and garden items but I really would love to extend that to skins and clothing in the future. Basically I want to create things that I would absolutely love to have RL. Unlike RL work, creating in SL allows me to be creative without any boundaries or anyone directing which way I take my creativity. Creating for myself is thankfully an extension into creating for others. I'm just happy that there are people out there who love my work as much as I do.

See some products here:

And this is is your prize for the hunters:

Synjari Le'Kitty: I wanted to create something that signified the era that the story takes place and so I did a bit of web research into what styles of furniture were available between the depression era and going into World War II. I am absolutely in love with Rezso Seress' song, "Gloomy Sunday" which caused quite a stir in Europe during the war. The story that coincides with that song is a bit macabre so I felt it pretty fitting to use it in this way. The color of the chair does feel a bit gloomy, yet so beautiful... exactly like the song. I actually have been wanting to make a set involving the song, so the era that the story takes place was a good reason to start. I hope the hunters are happy with this gift!

Shadow and Light @ Madpea

This weekend, the German community runs a big culture event with music, readings and art: Festival der Liebe. MadPea provides Tupol sim for a collaborative art installation within the festival. The theme is:

Shadow and Light

"Just as last year, a group of artists was invited to create a collaborative piece of art for the "Festival der Liebe". But this time they didn't join forces and worked together on a single piece. Having a whole sim there was room enough for each of them to create their own installation - though they all had to stick to the common theme 'Shadow and Light'."

The collaborating artists are: Asmita Duranjaya, ChapTer Kronfeld, Harter Fall, Hermine, Lilia Artis, Louly Loon, Moeuhane Sandalwood, Moewe Winkler, Penelope Parx, Roland Teichmann, Samira Mortensen, Xirana Oximoxi.

As you can see from the photos are there many interesting works, but at one you should have a closer look: ChapTer Kronfeld used the shadows of rusty nails to write text in the Sand. My graphic card shows shadows partly pixelated, therefore see here a photo taken by ChapTer:

The text means translated: The Silence of the Word is the Light of the Shadows

Make sure to have shadows enabled and sound on to fully see this work.

Come and have a look. Much to see here!

Praying Mary Hunt Gifts: Chaos, Panic & Disorder

It really makes us happy that the hunt finds so much attention. Blogger DevinVaughn Resident listed the Praying Mary Hunt as one of the Horror-Hot-Spots: Fashion + Freebies for Men. Thank you, Devin!

As teaser for Halloween Tutsy Navarathna made a funny video. The Praying Mary Hunt is one of the filming locations. Enjoy:

Wanna see more hunt gifts too? Today we talk to Lilah Munster, owner of Chaos, Panic & Disorder:

Lilah Munster: I try to make quality jewelry and acessories that you won't have to sell a kidney to afford.  And I believe that if it's something you wear, it should always have modify perms - always.

I love jewelry, and have made it in RL for years, as well.  There are things we can do in SL that aren't possible in RL, maybe because they violate the laws of physics... but I try to make my SL products look as "real" as possible, with details like fasteners, hooks, and rivets.

I make items for everyone... female avatars, male avatars, petites.  Most of my stuff tends to be goth, victorian, rocker/biker, or deco/nouveau, because those are the styles I love, but sometimes I'll go off and make something completely different, too.  I have fun making my items, and I hope my customers have fun with them, too.

Some recent items:

And this is the prize for the hunters:

Lilah Munster: I made a necklace inspired by Praying Mary herself.  It's a wooden cross with mysterious symbols burned into it, on a long rosary-style chain, with one bead for every one of her victims.  A knife blade pops out of the bottom on command.

Praying Mary Hunt Gifts: Michigans Shack

The hunters are giving us so much positive feed back. From our group chat:
Morsmordre Furman: "o.o can I just say this is the best 10L I ever spent?? Any chance someone can tell me if we find out what happens to Lucas with the whole first one down thing? *dies of curiosity and shakes her HUD until more story falls out"

Taken by Autumn Moonlight at the hunt

But you are as well curious about the hunt gifts. Today we talk to 2WAT Michigan, owner of Michigans Shack:

2WAT Michigan: "I co-own the store Michigans Shack as well as the home & garden community The Cookie Jar, with my RL sister Jiovi Michigan....

As far as Michigans Shack is concerned i like to let the products do the talking, we make a huge range of different themed items from furniture to houses, boats to cars, castles to caravans, trees to waves, the list goes on, come & explore some time :)"

And see here the prize for the hunters:

2WAT Michigan: "In keeping with the legend of Praying Mary we bring you her bed! all blood stained & with one of her husbands stabbed laying on top, when Mary sits the animations play out a scene with restless sleep, sleep walking and of course praying...."
