Introducing Mad City partners: Never Totally Dead

Never Totally Dead

MadPea would like to introduce the amazing talent of Sean & Silex from the store widely known as Never Totally Dead. MadPea found the talent during The Case of Praying Mary hunt, when they were using the Hackberry Hall as the main build for the story. That collaboration lead to the first round of Room 326 in December and from there to Mad City.

Room 326 was one one of the most acclaimed hunts MadPeas had designed and organized since Peatonville and due to the huge demands from the community, we brought it back bigger and better than before!

When you first teleport into Mad City, you get the feeling that you are not in the average modern city but more Noir and the era of the 50's. BlueSean Yiyuan and Silex Zapedzki together with sim designer paramparamm Papp were responsible for the entire cityscape of the Mad City Sim. You can see in each building and structure their immense attention to detail. It's clear that they love the older style of architecture and the days that have passed.

One of the things about Sean & Silex is that you never hear them boast or really push their store too often. So we here at MadPeas are going to do it for them, because they are just literally too awesome to not just jump up and down about! To be fair though one doesnt have to make too much fuss and bother when your work speaks it loud and clear. Never Totally Dead lives this very description day in and day out. I have been to the store personally many times especially around Halloween. Reason being, Never Totally Dead specializes in some of the most amazing haunted and spooky decor, furniture and homes you will find on the grid anywhere! The items range from full blown haunted houses to possessed dinner tables and bed, skeletons breaking out of the floors and walls, chairs shatter and floating, ghosts, ghouls and much much more! If you need something scary or spooky for your next event, or just want to freak out your friends in Second Life with something a lil out of the ordinary in your own home, come on over to Never Totally Dead, you are sure to find something decrepit, nasty and dead to your liking.

Thank you for participating in "The Return of Room 326"

Sean & Silex
(Never Totally Dead)

What brought you to Second Life and how your store came into existence?

For both of us, curiosity brought us to log in Second Life, nothing more, we had no plans or idea of what we would do there. We met 2.5 years ago and quickly realized we shared an interest in building and had complementary skills. We built our first haunted manor and the haunted items inside and this was the start of the story.

Please tell us a little bit about your store and your products?

As our brand name tells, we love old places, old furniture and objects and the spirits or ghosts that haunt them. This explains we first created products that clearly fit the Halloween season which starts much earlier than you would expect, a lot of people start preparing during the summer holidays! Then we built La Lutiniere, our French chateau, that, like the Haunted Manor and Hackberry Hall, tries to be not just a pretty box from outside but also a livable place inside.

What is the prize that you made for Room 326?
For the prize we thought it would be a good idea to give the shop we built for us in Mad City.

Have you visited Mad City? If so, what is your favorite thing about Mad City?
Even better than a simple visit, we worked with Sasha00 Laryukov and the MadPea crew to build the place and enjoyed the experience!

What is your favorite thing about being involved in the hunt? Are you planning on doing the hunt yourself?
The hunts are a great way to meet other people when preparing, and to discover other people's products when doing the hunt. So yes we already did the hunt too.

What would you like to say to the Peas looking to start this MadPea Hunt?
As for the previous MadPea hunts, they will have a great time visiting interesting places, reading the story and the hints, searching for the envelopes and they will get a lot of nice presents at the end. On top of that, they will see a lot of changes compared to the first Room 326 hunt, with the city and all the shops, in the hotel, etc.... BUT bring your umbrella, it is still raining!

Thank you for your time and the interview.

Thank you for your time.

Mad City: The Return of Room 326

MAD CITY &
THE RETURN OF ROOM 326

The Story:
The Silent Peacock Hotel has been recently closed for an investigation after 15 people have disappeared from their premises. What the people have in common is that they all have spent a night in Room 326.

It's a mystery of how this has happened since the door has been locked and there are no signs of struggle or forced entry. All of the personal belongings of the guests have been untouched.  The local police has been left clueless.

The players will take the role as private investigators to examine the evidence and search for the truth behind the disappearances.

Do you dare to enter Room 326 and discover the evil secrets it holds?

How to play the hunt:

(touch and click the dispenser)
Buy a HUD at the newspaper dispenser for 150 Linden and wear it.
(Please take notice to the information the hud will give you and post in your local chat box)

Before you can begin with the hunt, you must find and enter Room 326 for your introduction to the game. Once you find an important item in the room, your HUD will be activated:

Please understand that this game is a point-and-click treasure hunt. Clicking items will give you clues to advance in the game. Once you click the photo on the HUD, it gives you a hint and a SLURL in local chat to a location where an ENVELOPE has been hidden

Once you find an envelope the photo on the HUD will turn into that. Please note, the ENVELOPES do not give out prizes. You must collect all of them to receive all the prizes at once in the end. When you have all the envelopes, follow the instructions given in the chat to you.

Your ultimate goal is to find 15 envelopes in grid-wide locations eventually taking you to the final game play area where you will be rewarded with 15 high quality prizes.

To HIDE the HUD, simply click the MadPea on top left corner to rotate it.

For extra help ask in MadPeas group chat. You can also IM Clicquot Oh, Glitch Axelrad or Elizabeth Tinsley.

Kiana's Interview - The Drax Files: World Makers

The Drax Files: World Makers

[ Episode 8: MadPea Games]

The debate if SecondLife is a game or not is alive and well since on NBC's The Office from 2007 Dwight Schrute rejects a narrow definition of the vast virtual world in which he "plays" a paper salesman.

Meanwhile, Finland based design company MadPea Games has not been paying much attention to this back and forth, instead churning out complex immersive adventure games and game-based learning concepts within SecondLife using the platform's vast array of tools to the fullest.

MadPea's globally dispersed team operates as if they are working out of a joint because the persistent universe of SL allows them to do just that: scripters from Holland manipulate game mechanics with 3D modelers from the United States in real-time while designers from Germany, France and the UK test game flow on their new work-in-progress action game "Unia", disproving assumptions that only consoles can handle intense game-play, high-end graphics and epic storylines.

SLB10 - A 5 Year Look at MadPeas

SLB10

THE 5 YEARS OF MADPEAS

There is a saying when growing a garden or flowers that the more love and time you give with your plant it will grow and become full, vibrant and to its best potential. There is no greater truth than with MadPea Productions.

The wonders of Second Life allows any person to bring forth their dreams, wishes and ambitions to life with the click of a button. We all would not be where we are today if it was not for the one mind of a single woman with a brain crammed of stories and imagination. Kiana Writer wanted to make her dreams and nightmares come to life. Second Life was the canvas and MadPeas was the paint and brush to create.

Through the 5 years of adaptation MadPeas has gone through many changes and has bestowed the Second Life grid with some of the most amazing hunts, games, puzzles and interactive adventures. MadPeas has strived to continue to push the envelope and be the first to see what Second Life's real potential and ability had to hold underneath all of its many layers of possibility.

MadPeas is celebrating with Second Life it's 10th Birthday of existence and the theme of Looking Forward, Looking Back. We have built an amazing display with hats (designed and built by Madcow Cosmos) that go to the sky for visitors to go take a look at and see through the years what MadPeas has been here and how we have evolved. As you start to climb your way from the bottom hat and move up the creaky ladder you are invited to click the framed posters of the games of the past that we have created. Some of them even have the original teaser/promo video for that game when it was created. You have to truly watch every one of these videos and see even as the videos become more in depth with design, creativity and love. It is easy to see with every game we learned, we adapted and we moved another step forward.

MadPeas has been a labor of love for years and the admiration and following of the group behind it has been the true heartbeat as to why it keeps doing what we do. If there was never any following behind it, the desire to create at times feels a bit less desirable. But the Peas out there, our followers continue to anxiously wait for every game and puzzle and event that we come up with. We love everyone of the new visitors that come in and see us the first time and get hooked as much as those that have been on this ride with us since day one. Through thick and thin the family we have inside the crew and outside with the group MadPeas has grown to be one of the biggest and widely known gaming groups on the grid. We thank every single person that has ever helped us, planned a game with us or merely played one of our games or attended an event. We would never have made 5 years if it was not for all of you.

We thank you all for making these 5 years something truly to remember with the memories, friends and true bonds between so many different types, styles and personalities of people. We look to the next 5 years and continue to make every new experience just like it was the first time you found MadPeas.
Thank you to everyone of you.
